DREAM to Possibly Begin Light Heavyweight GP by July

Yesterday’s news reported that the upcoming DREAM 14 fight card on May 29, will not be including the start of their light heavyweight grand prix due to the fact that DREAM’s network partners were not interested in the tournament. But, DREAM parent company, Fight and Entertainment Group are still planning on crowning a new light heavyweight champion in the near future.

According to MMAFighting.com sources close to the organization claim that DREAM may hold a 4-man tournament in July which will possibly be for DREAM 15.

If that is the case then the date for the DREAM 15 event will be on July 15 as the winners would face off later on in the year for the vacant championship.

Should that be the case, then the only 4 competitors who have already signed up are Gegard Mousasi, Renato ‘Babalu’ Sobral, Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou and Christian M’Pumbu as the only participants, so they would also likely be the ones competing for the title.

In the meantime, DREAM 14 will mark the return of the white cage which was first introduced last October at DREAM 12.

With the addition of the DREAM light heavyweight division, their middleweight and heavyweight divisions are also lacking a champion as well.
