Wanderlei Silva says Vitor Belfort “Injured himself” when he saw “An upset big black guy” AKA Anderson Silva

With new life now in the UFC middleweight division, Wanderlei Silva is still fresh off his unanimous decision victory over Michael Bisping this past February at UFC 110 from Sydney, Australia as he now gets ready to prepare for his next challenge in the new weight class as he faces Yoshihiro Akiyama this July at UFC 116 in Las Vegas, Nevada. But, ‘The Axe Murderer’ was very much looking forward to see fellow Brazilians Anderson Silva taking on Vitor Belfort earlier this month at UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi, but that fight did not happen as ‘The Phenom’ injured his shoulder and was replaced by Demian Maia. Wanderlei however feels that Belfort may have hurt himself for another reason.

In an exclusive chat with Tatame Magazine in this month’s edition, Wanderlei says that Belfort injured himself once he saw just how angry and upset ‘The Spider’ was going into the bout.
“I really wanted to watch this fight between him and Anderson, I think it would be great, but it seems that he saw Anderson upset and got injured, I don’t know… A big black guy upset, I think I would get hurt too (laughs)”, mocks Silva.

Wanderlei Silva is a man that will in fact never back down from any challenge from any man and has had Vitor Belfort in his sights since their fight back at UFC 17.5 almost 12 years ago as he is dying for that rematch someday, but is also good friends with Anderson Silva and will choose his longtime friend in support feeling that he will defeat Belfort as well should they fight and maybe Wanderlei just might be able to exact his revenge someday on Belfort.

But, as much as I am a fan of ‘The Axe Murderer’ as anyone else, I want to see at least one or two more convincing performances out of him where he is back at that high level once again. Would you agree?
