Mixed Martial Arts legend Wanderlei "The Axe Murderer" Silva declared in an exclusive interview to TATAME.com that he expects nothing but fireworks in the UFC 116 co-main event fight against Yoshihiro Akiyama. Wandeco defeated Michael Bisping in his last fight at UFC 110 in Australia, and will be looking for consistency when he faces "the brave" Akiyama:
“It’ll be the professor Rafael Cordeiro who will deal with it and guide the sparring to do it the way it must be done. Akiyama is really tough, a good guy, who was an athlete for all his life through. He has a good ground game, Yoshihiro Akiyama is really strong.
It’ll be an interesting fight, it’s a good fight for me because he goes forward and goes with the flow, and he doesn’t run off. I believe the fight will be busy, a big show. I want to keep on fighting for the next six years, at least until I’m forty. This division change was good, I had to change my diet and I’m feeling just fine.”
Wanderlei Silva is currently 2-3 in his five bouts inside The Octagon, losing to Chuck Liddell (decision), Rampage Jackson (KO) and Rich Franklin (decision). The Axe Murderer is currently Thirty-three years old, competing professionally in Mixed Martial Arts since 1996.
