Bellator Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez solidified his place as one of the best Lightweights on the planet, by submitting the UFC veteran Josh Neer at Bellator 17. Twenty-six year old Alvarez forced "The Dentist" Neer to tap out in the middle of the second round, after applying a Rear Naked Choke.
Josh Neer was not the only UFC veteran to lose at Bellator 17. Muay Thai specialist Roger "El Matador" Huerta was dominated by 10-3 Pat Curran, who won the 29-28 Unanimous Decision. Twenty-two year old youngster moves forward to the final phase of the Bellator Lightweight Tournament, against Toby Imada.
