Clay Guida is expected to take on Rafael Dos Anjos at UFC 117 at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California.
The bout was first reported by the MMARecap as it is under discussion to be set up for the August 7 event.
Following a bad 2009 campaign inside the Octagon with back to back losses to former title contenders Diego Sanchez and Kenny Florian, Clay Guida (26-11) was able to bounce back with a recent second round submission victory over Shannon Gugerty at the first UFC on Versus fight card this past March, which also marked his first win while training under MMA legendary coach Greg Jackson down in Albuquerque, New Mexico as ‘The Carpenter’ looks to get another winning streak going.
On the other hand, Rafael Dos Anjos (14-4) has reeled off 3 straight UFC victories after losing in his first 2 Octagon outings as the Brazilian has defeated the likes of Rob Emerson, Kyle Bradley and most recently Terry Etim at UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi where Dos Anjos also picked up the $75,000 “Submission of the Night” bonus as Dos Anjos was able to submit the young U.K. striker with a second round armbar to secure the win.
UFC 117 is expected to feature a showdown for the middleweight title as Anderson Silva will be defending his championship against Chael Sonnen in the main event of the evening.
