Rashad Evans Concludes UFC 114 Grudge Match with Decision Win over Rampage Jackson, Shogun Rua Title Fight is Next

This was the fight we were all waiting for as former light heavyweight champions Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson and ‘Suga’ Rashad Evans finally got inside the Octagon after numerous months of back and forth trash talking as a bonus was also at stake, which was a shot at the 205 title each man lost with Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua waiting in the wings.

As soon as the opening bell went off, Evans immediately rocks Rampage with a right hand that staggers him to the fence as Evans looks to go for the takedown and succeeds as Rampage recovers, but Rashad who is trying to keep the pressure is unable to do much after that as Rampage finds a way to get back to his feet and resets.

Rampage attempts to go for his big power shot, but Evans is sticking and moving while he uses his speed to his advantage to get ahead on the judges scorecards as much is done in the second round as in the first round as Evans gets a pivotal takedown and leaves Rampage with no answer to counter in any way, shape or form.

However, in the last round Rashad who did lax just a bit in his fight with Thiago Silva found himself getting caught by a Rampage right hand as Evans is dropped to the ground while Rampage tries to seize the opportunity, but Rashad recovers and ultimately gets out of Rampage hold over him as he secures a few more takedowns to get this fight to a decision and take the victory.

With the grudge match done, Rashad Evans will move on to his second title shot as he will now be the first to challenge Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua for the UFC light heavyweight championship as Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson will hopefully be back once again and get his ring rust out of the way.
